No, Nixon was not a commission. It serves only  as an example of Mark's signature style of silk-screen portraiture based on preexisting photographs.

Olfactory expert Avery Gilbert's  First Nerve announced our April 16th reception to launch AvantNez (http://www.olfactoryfineart.com/) -  a conceptual art project by "idea" artist Brian Goeltzenleuchter.

In a multi-sensory event on Saturday April 16th with well over a hundred invited guests, Aldis Browne Fine Arts Inc launched AVANTnezBrian Goeltzenleutcher's Olfactory fine art portrait project. Goeltzenleuchter's AVANTnez is at the heart of  Contraposto, his conceptual exploration of arts institutions and commerce. In furtherance of his "idea art", the artist announced that will donate to the La Jolla Athenaeum half of the proceeds from all olfactory portrait commissions AVANTnez receives between now and June 20th.

PASSAGE, a loan to the community by artist noted California artist Guy Dill, was unveiled at Browne's offices at this event, as well.

La Jolla's neighboring Mark Quint Gallery collaborated with Aldis Browne to install Dill's 7' polished stainless steel PASSAGE, and building neighbors Jane and Ridgway Whittemore  co-sponsored the installation of the sculpture.

One of the artist's hallmark images, PASSAGE served as the model for Dill's multiple commission for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.  Another version of PASSAGE, a monumental marble, was exhibited earlier this year at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. One of that LACMA edition, a 90% reduction in wood and cast plaster, can be seen at Browne's  offices in  an exhibition addressing the joys of collecting.  (No, the works works are not for sale, Browne calls the show a visual "catalogue".)

This exhibit hosted by Aldis Browne's CommissionArt.com, features a selection of paintings by Lebanon's Venice Biennale invitee and  longtime Southern California artist Huguette Caland whose solo show opens at the Peter Findlay Gallery in New York on November 2nd.
